Beale Memorial Library is the Downtown Bakersfield flagship of the Kern County Library system and a wonderful resource for local families.
Families can explore children's books and other library materials, enjoy the children's area (which has been newly renovated in 2026), and participate in story times, crafts, educational activities, seasonal programs, and special events offered throughout the year. The library also provides computers, research resources, employment support, study spaces, and access to the larger Kern County Library collection.
The branch offers daily and weekly programming for children and families, with activities and events changing throughout the year. Check the Macaroni KID Central Bakersfield Events Calendar to discover upcoming programs at Beale Memorial Library and other local family-friendly events. Because library schedules and programs may change, we recommend confirming event details directly with the library before heading out.
Business Review
Beale Memorial Library has become one of the local places I've personally enjoyed visiting. I've found the staff to be welcoming and helpful, and I especially appreciate the variety of activities and events they continue to add for families. It's worth checking their calendar regularly as there always seems to be something new happening!
